Issue Position: Make Ballot Access and Ballot Referendums Easier to Achieve

Issue Position

Issues: Elections

Arkansans can walk into any McDonalds in the state and be inundated with dozens of choices for what to eat. Yet the Arkansas legislature has made the process of giving Arkansans more choice on the ballot more onerous and more expensive than ever. Choice and competition only makes things better, so ask yourself why the Republican and Democratic controlled legislature would want to limit those choices? It costs tens of thousands of dollars and thousands of man hours to get parties other than R and D on the ballot. This must stop.
Ballot referendums help Arkansans change the Arkansas Constitution by bringing the items to the ballot for all Arkansans to vote on. Last year, the Arkansas legislature took an already expensive and onerous process and made it much more difficult. Arkansans deserve to have a voice in your laws and government, and when elected, I will make sure it happens.
